About

This weekend getaway home was built from the ground up in the Sierra foothills for repeat clients looking for a rustic and modern retreat with comfortable living spaces inside and out.  Exposed concrete walls and radiant heated floors were used to provide a thermal break from the hot summer days and the chilly winter nights.  A dropped ceiling with sound absorbing fabric between 1 x 4 wood slats was installed to acoustically dampen the noise from the occasional boisterous dinner party.  The architect camped on the property before ground was broken to get a sense of the light and ensure the house was sited for optimal views up into the oak filled hills and down to the bass filled pond below.
